The Mountain & Me (石鎚山)

Ishizuchi (literally "stone hammer") is one of seven holy mountains in Japan. At 1982 Meters, its summit is the highest point on the island of Shikoku. Ishizuchi also holds the title as the tallest mountain in western Japan.

This past Saturday I climbed to the summit (with a little help from friends).

Having been my first mountain climbing experience, Ishizuchi was both physically challenging and incredibly rewarding for me. Rather than expend unneeded verbiage trying to relate every drop of sweat (and there were a LOT!), I'd just as soon refer you to the pictures below.

I think they do an adequate job retelling the journey.

This is a beautiful posting. I don't know if I'll ever make it up the mountain but I do appreciate this as it is one of the things I wanted to do when on Shikoku island.

This was incredibly brave of you to climb. It is not something I could EVER have done personally. I am so very proud of you.

Also the pictures and commentary are great. I really love this blog.
