These two trees at the entrance of Sanno Shrine were all but completely destroyed in the atomic fireball. After the bombings, people often spoke of how nothing would grow in Hiroshima (and Nagasaki) for 75 years. Miraculously, these two trees completely returned to life. Today, they stand as a testament to life, courage, and hope.
